TRAVEL THEME: WHITE
UN’S INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE
SEPTEMBER 21, 2012
“Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you;
not as the world gives do I give to you.

neither let it be afraid.”

The first Peace Day was celebrated in 1982; this year marks the 30th anniversary. The theme for 2012 is ‘Sustainable Peace for a Sustainable Future’.
From the UN web site: There can be no sustainable future without a sustainable peace. Sustainable peace must be built on sustainable development.
I believe peace starts first within each of us. When we are at peace with ourselves then we can look on the face of any man or woman and see them as our brother or sister, then we will have sustainable peace.
In honour of the International Day of Peace, Ailsa of Where’s my backpack? would like us to go all white for this week’s travel theme.

My moms favorite colors is white. Even if we are at the wet market, rain or shine , has to be white. She says, “It is a symbol of purity.” Indeed it is. Beautiful images my friend and this one I carry in my thoughts today, “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you;

Yes, white also means peace and pure in my country. That is why we have it as one of the two colors in our national flag.
