WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLENGE: ILLUMINATION
ILLUMINATION BEFORE ELECTRICITY
This past October I spent an evening being transported back to the 1800′s. During a time before we had electricity. The place was Blennerhassett Island. We were taken back to a time that existed over 200 years ago.
WE WERE GREETED BY PEOPLE IN PERIOD COSTUMES
VISITED THE MANSION ILLUMINATED BY HUNDREDS OF CANDLES AND LANTERN BOXES
ENTERTAINED BY CANDLELIGHT
RODE IN A HORSE-DRAWN COVERED WAGON
SAW 18TH-CENTURY DANCING
HEARD HAUNTING STORIES OF LOCAL FORKLORE AROUND A BONFIRE
WATCHED A LIVELY GAME OF CARDS
LISTENED TO PERIOD MUSIC

The lighting during that period was definitely less harsh. Seems to add to the genteel atmosphere of the period.

I forgot to mention that, as a retired electrician, this is something that interests me a lot. I hope your pictures are not copywrited because I sure have saved a number of them; in fact, you have a folder in my pics called simply “FRANCINE!”
