Francine In Retirement
Seeing Life Through Photography

It’s the last day of January, no snow, no rain, and no clouds.  It is a beautiful sunny day with the temperature hovering at 60 degrees and a perfect opportunity to get out with camera and see what’s going on in the city.

I had heard the city would be taking down more of the roof of the Mellon Arena (formally called the Civic Arena), and the former home of the Pittsburgh Penguins, so off I headed to capture this big event in the city.

Here is what I found in the below slideshow.

The demolition crew had some technical problems so they halted destruction until tomorrow.  So I headed further into town to photograph an update on the Occupy Pittsburgh Movement (more on that in a later post).

Hope you enjoyed this slideshow.  It contains photos before and now.

  1. the slide show is very interesting …

  2. Oh, wow! So many changes to the Mellon Arena. I saw a Penguins game and Yanni concert there several years ago.

  3. It is sad that they are tearing it dowm. It holds so many memories for a lot of people.
