WIDE OPEN

The Digital Photography School has selected for its’ weekly challenge the theme WIDE OPEN.

The images collected are to be shot with large Apertures. Remember a large aperture (a big wide open hole in your lens) translates to a low number. So all the images should be taken at between f0.95 and f1.8.

If we do not have a camera that has an aperture that big – then we are to use the largest aperture we have available to us and to take and share a shot at that.

The three animals above ( The Amur Tiger, Spring Bok and The Masai Giraffe also known as The Kilimanjaro Giraffe ) were taken last spring at the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarian.

  1. What was the focal length of the above photos?

    • Hi Sojourner, I was expermenting at the time these were taken. All three were taken at 5.6. I was playing with depth of field and I liked these results. Since I’m a beginner I have a Canon EOS Rebel T3. I hope to get a better camera at a later date. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
