Francine In Retirement
Seeing Life Through Photography

“No one lights a lamp and puts it in a place where it will be hidden, or under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, so that those who come in may see the light.

Luke 11:33

I know the blogging community to be full of  wonderful people shinning beams of light in their individual and unique ways through their blog posts.  I have bask in their light and learned many interesting things, traveled to wonderful places around the world and learned of their joys and struggles.

I want to show my support and appreciation by listing, over a period of time, some special blogs I read.

Every Thursday, I will publish a list of blogs that I enjoy.  They have been a great source of encouragement, inspiration and information. This is not an award, but a “SHOUT OUT” to them.  I hope you will check out these wonderful blogs.  I am sure you will be blessed by them.

If you don’t see your blog listed, the time will come when it will be.

Aging with peace of mine.  She set out to do things that she have never done before–for health, for self-enrichment, and for aging gracefully. Now over a decade has passed, and she is still on this pursuit.

This blog, in fact, is already a new adventure in her life. She started it by serendipity after liking someone’s blog.  Now that it exists, it reveals her interest in walking, reading, food and music. This is her platform to experiment with writing and photography. With this blog, she will rant about her private thoughts that could be considered public.

The de Wets (Dries, Marilize and Joubert) have always had a great affinity for the wild outdoors and they are often joined on their excursions by close friends and family.

With “de Wets Wild“ they hope to share their love for and experiences in South Africa’s wild places, from the smallest nature reserves to the biggest national parks, with you.

Lover of travel, books, photography, gardens, oceans, the world.  She is a nurse case manager involved in Disease/Case Management services, living in Northern California.  She has occasionally blogged on Matador Network:

She is an iPad enthusiast. She’s a Kindle enthusiast. She is an iPhone enthusiast. She’s also enthusiastic about apps and ebooks. She enjoys seeking out new things and sharing what she has learned so a blog is the perfect way to do all that. A place to contain her bubbling enthusiasm and a place to share.  So her goal is to scour the internet for tips and apps that might be interesting, appealing and/or new for all people in two groups. New users (example, here) and casual users (example, here).  If you are like me and not tech savy or would like to know more about today’s technology, visit or follow her blog.

Colline is made up of all the adjectives used to describe her, the experiences that have formed her, and the thoughts that flow through her when she reads and react to what is happening in her surroundings. Her blog is an expression of who she is; a potpourri of her experiences, thoughts, and feelings. She looks forward to getting to know who you are as she shares what she is.

A single father to a beautiful daughter who has become his inspiration to change the way he sees the world around him. He would like to share with you all that he sees and all that he feels, he hopes you will enjoy your stay and feel free to comment anything you’d like.

People find him an interesting young man.  Writing is such a great form of expression; and his writing is very honest.

This blog is a collection of “blurbs” from life as she sees it. Sometimes the blurb involves a funny little story, sometimes a photo or two, sometimes both. She enjoys interacting with her readers so please don’t be shy. Leave a comment or click Like if you find it her blog even mildly entertaining.

She states her blurbs have no rhyme or reason. They range from the past to the present and have no set length. She will use as many words as it takes to tell the story. The topics, too, represent whatever happens to be in her head at the moment. It might be an anecdote from long ago, or it might be a snippet of her travels in the distant past or the present.

Her name is Madhu
She loves design. She designs interiors for a living (At least I did, till I took a long sabbatical!) She loves reading and loves desserts. But travel is her passion. She cannot imagine life without travel. Her blog hopes to convey some of that passion, to inspire you to spread your wings. This is home to some of her journeys. This is what I saw. She will take you to places you have never been nor imagined. She takes amazing photos of some wonderful and beautiful places.

Allan Hamilton is his name.  He is TheMOFMan visual artist specializing in illustration, photography and graphic design. He features some wonderful images on his blog site.  Visit his blog and you will be inspired and informed.

For as long as she could remember she has wondered about the ‘spiritual’ side of life. Her explorations have gone in many directions, but now she is content to do what little she can to bring light and love to those around her.

She lives near the sea, surrounded by bushland and beautiful wild beaches. Kangaroos and wallabies graze all around the house, red bellied black snakes hunt the frogs in the dams, water lilies adorn the pond in their season. With her two-year old granddaughter she sits and watch dragonflies, while birds dart in out of the thick native flowering shrubs she planted to create a habitat for them.

Blogging is a new joy, giving her an opportunity to think, observe and investigate, finding nourishing titbits to share with others.  Visit her blog and also learn of some of her yoga experiences
