It’s Regatta time again in Pittsburgh.  It’s also a time we celebrate the 4th of July in this country. The past two years there has been a sand art sculpture featured.  This year’s work is again by Sensational Sand Sculpting. presented by Colcom Foundation and titled, “America’s Pioneering Spirit.” The display is packed with history celebrating our nation beginnings.  See last years entry here.

I noticed five scenes sculptured in the sand.   First there was Columbus’s ships landing on our shores, next people homesteading, then there was the exposition of Louis and Clark, there’s a small scene of people trading with Native American Indians and finally you’ll see a wagon train of people heading west to settle in California.
