THE MASK

“In order to find peace, we must expose the masks we use to hide behind.”

“The most important kind of freedom is to be what you really are. You trade in your reality for a role. You give up your ability to feel, and in exchange, put on a mask.”

Jim Morrison (1943-1971, American singer and song writer)

We all struggle with masks. Jesus was even tempted to wear masks, but He didn’t. He was Himself all of the time.

All of our lives, we all struggle with masks. We face temptation, sometimes daily, to be someone that we are not, just to fit in or to hide our hurt or to make others like us.

Thanks be to God, the Father who sent Jesus to be our role model and to give us hope and help when we struggle with masks. In the Bible it says that Jesus was tempted in every way that we are, but never sinned. So, Jesus was tempted to wear masks, but He didn’t. He was Himself all of the time.

Read more on what Jesus has to say about masks, here.

I photographed these masks while wandering around Pittsburgh’s Three Rivers Arts Festival that is held every year in the month of June.  These were taken in 2012.

BE ENCOURAGED!  BE BLESSED!
