Seeing Life Through Photography

While visiting Arizona I spotted this unique home sitting in the hills of Sedona.  The house is rumored to be owned by a famous actor.

I had the opportunity to visit Montezuma Castle National Monument to see the incredible cliff dwellings built by the Sinagua Indians hundreds of years ago.  See my post on this visit here.

FALLINGWATERS - BUILT WITHIN NATURE'S SURROUNDINGSI took a tour of this beautiful home a couple of years ago. Fallingwater is the name of this very special house that was built over a waterfall.  Frank Lloyd Wright, America’s most famous architect, designed the house for the Kaufman family who were from Pittsburgh, PA.  The home was built in 1936 and it instantly became famous, and today it is a National Historic Landmark.

Fallingwater is located in southwest Pennsylvania’s Laurel Highlands about 90 minutes from downtown Pittsburgh.  My related Post.

  1. wow they are breathtakingly beautiful pictures

  2. That house was a “work in progress” for most of the time I was living in AZ! Glad to see it is finally finished! Have seen Montezuma’s Castle…love that shady spot…pretty unusual in AZ. Falling Water is amazing. Thanks for the memories! Did you see Canyon de Chelly in AZ?

    • No I didn’t. I did visit the Grand Canyon, Chapel of the Holy Cross, Cameron Trading Post, The Watchtower and Jerome. Maybe next time. Thanks for your visit and comments.

      • well, add Monument Valley and stay in the motel built along the edge of the ridge with huge window looking into the valley. Canyon de Chelly is one of our favorite places in the world. You are guided by a Navajo either in a group or you may hire one on your own. We always did the group tour…half day or full day. Stay in Thunderbird Lodge right on the nation. It is not very well advertised and then see Antelope Canyon. Google it for incredible pictures. Oh, I love AZ! Thanks! You saw some great places….

  3. I love the last one, Air must be so fresh all the time. As for the view of the homes out of Montezuma I can only imagine the view 😀

  4. Three very different homes, all with a coolness rating of 10 (on a scale of 1 to 10).

  5. Do you think the first house is trying to echo the hills in the distance?

  6. Great choices for unique! Beautiful photo of the Fallingwater!

  7. These really are striking but I am now in love and want a ‘Fallingwater’ of my own…that is such a wonderful house Francine. Thank goodness they made it a National Historic Landmark.

  8. Gorgeous gorgeous…just wouldn’t want to clean it☺

  9. These homes really blend in with the land. Great photos!

  10. Falling water and the cliff dwellings are wonderful but I don’t like the other house very much – I’m amazed it was allowed to be built in that incredible landscape.

  11. Thanks for sharing this stunning entry Francine ….I love it my friend 🙂

  12. You’ve certainly seen some unique homes, Francine 🙂
I wasn’t sure if the challenge was for unique homes or simply something unique? Still thinking 😦

  13. Perfect! Montezuma’s castle and Falling water are both unique yet beautiful.

  14. What a spectacular place for a home! Great shot, Francine.
