Francine In Retirement
Seeing Life Through Photography

I am retired from PPG Industries, located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  I am the mother of one child, a daughter and a grandmother of three.  I have a ministry called Stand In The Gap where I make silk flower arrangments that are given for free to those sick in the hospital.  I love to take photographs of people, places and things, to capture the joys, excitement and sometimes sorrows of life. I like to document my photos with information or historical facts, if possible.  Sometimes I take photos in series to tell a story or show different sides of a subject.  In my retirement years I would love to travel more, meet new people and photograph all aspects of life.  I love to read, sew, make silk flower arrangements, listen to jazz and praise and worship music.  I am a follower of Jesus Christ and strive to use the teachings of the Bible in my everyday walk through life.  I hope this blog will cover my journey and be a source of inspiration to those who read or view the photos posted.  Thank you for stopping buy to view my posts.  Your comments are welcomed .  If you like my site, please pass on to others.  I also made a WordPress commitment to postaweek in December of 2011, that I wish to continue in the following year.  To God the glory!  Be Encouraged!  Be Blessed!

  1. Francine,
I want to let you know how much I enjoy and am inspired by your blog. I want to give you The Very Inspiring Blogger Award!
    Keep up the great work!

    • Thank you Claudia. It means a lot when other bloggers award you for what you love to do. Inspiration can be a two way street. Like iron sharping iron. I’m also inspired by your blog as well. I will be away for a few days, so I will respond next week. Thank you so much for thinking of me.

  2. I am not sure if you were aware of it at the time, but I nominated you for the Super Sweet Blogging Award in early September! I have only just become aware of the fact that one is supposed to inform one’s nominees as well as create a pingback.

My apologies for not having let you know the correct way! If you choose to take up the award, I hope you have fun with it!

    • Thank you so much for this award. It is with humility and honor that I accept it. I am so behind in posting awards so please bear with me. I will post my acceptance ASAP. Thank you again for thinking of me.

  3. Thanks for visiting my blog …

  4. Good news, we are giving you the “BEST MOMENT AWARD“. Congratulations and enjoy the rest of the day!

  5. I think I have been following you for 3 months now, but recently I noticed a lack of posts from you in my WP reader – so I double clicked the follow button 🙂

  6. Hello newest Spikey! I know, a bit corny, eh, but that’s the term that has come to stick for those folk who are part of the clan known to be followers of Uncle Spike 🙂

Thank you… I really appreciate that as I for one, know how many interesting and entertaining blogs are out there.

My aim is to deliver an eclectic offering of posts, from my ‘point n shoot’ attempts at basic photography, to the sharing of my travel adventures over the decades, as well as day to day happenings here on the farm. Oh, plus a few observations on life as I see it, thrown in for good measure.

My promise to you is not to be overbearing, just a couple of posts a day, maybe 3 at weekends if I have something special to share. But if you are at a loose end one day, maybe you’ll enjoy trawling through some of my older stuff too. I have added plenty of categories to help in said digging process.

Thanks again and hope you have a great day…
